Hi, Im Jill Sweetable!

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC, #20816) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Distinction from Simon Fraser University and a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Adler University. Prior to entering the counselling profession, I worked as a special education assistant, behaviour interventionist, respite worker, pool therapy assistant and neurofeedback technician.

I am a neuroaffirming and trauma-informed counsellor working with adults, youth (12+), and couples. I use a person-centred approach at my core while also integrating Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy into my practice. Additionally, I operate from a strengths-based and solution focused lens, utilizing your coping strategies, skills, resources and resilience to help you move forward and achieve your goals.

We will collaborate to explore your thoughts and feelings, search for meaning, and achieve the short-term and long-term goals you've set for yourself. I find that individuals often uncover the barriers preventing them from reaching their desired outcomes when they externalize the thoughts and feelings they've kept buried. Acknowledging and understanding these internal experiences can be a powerful catalyst for change, facilitating transformation both internally and externally.

My clinical focus includes, but is not limited to, supporting ADHDers, Autistic folks, AUDHDers and those dealing with anxiety, burnout, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, trauma and couple's counselling.

I provide support for neurodivergent individuals navigating challenges such as masking, compensation, burnout and the unique hurdles of a late diagnosis. I focus on creating a safe and affirming space to explore identity, reduce the emotional strain of masking, and develop personalized strategies for coping with sensory sensitivities and executive functioning difficulties in a neurotypical world. By validating lived experiences and fostering self-compassion, I help clients understand their neurodivergence, improve emotional resilience, and empower them to thrive in environments that may not always be accommodating.

As an empathic and compassionate person, I aim to walk with clients, not lead them on their journey of self-discovery. This journey will be grounded in mutual respect, compassion, honesty, and humour.

“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”
